With high-profile leftist influencers promoting socialism in America, Christian apologist Alex McFarland says Christians need to answer from a biblical worldview.
“Nowhere socialism has ever been implemented has the human condition been improved,” said McFarland, “only harmed.”
McFarland joined the Truth & Liberty livecast with Richard Harris and Karen Conrad to discuss a number of issues, including the importance of responding to socialism with biblical truth.
Equipping Christians to Respond to Culture
McFarland is deeply involved with the Biblical Worldview curriculum series from Andrew Wommack Ministries. A worldview is the lens through which a person sees the world based on personal beliefs and experiences.
American children are being indoctrinated with destructive socialist ideologies like Critical Race Theory through schools and the media. Now is a crucial time for revival in the Church fueled by evangelism and apologetics rooted in a biblical worldview, said McFarland.
“It will equip you to share your faith confidently in any situation,” said McFarland of the Biblical Worldview curriculum series. “We want to see people equipped to rise to the challenge of 1 Peter 3:15, and be ready to give an answer for the hope that you have.”
The next installment, Biblical Worldview: Socialism, is scheduled for release later this year. It comes at a time when widespread social upheaval is being driven by socialist groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter.
Fighting Against the Lies of Socialism
According to McFarland, Venezuela, Cuba, and other nations have been irreparably damaged by Marxist Communism – the final form of socialism – but many young people in this nation are being fed a different narrative.
“This worldview has harmed so many millions of lives, and the countries that have suffered under socialism, they’re doing their utmost to get away from it,” said McFarland. “Yet, in America, in our classrooms, halls of government, and newsrooms, they’re promoting socialism.”
Working on Biblical Worldview with historians David Barton of WallBuilders and William J. Federer of American Minute, McFarland learned that Americans’ current infatuation with socialism is nothing new.
“Socialist communes were attempted and abandoned 80 times in America by 1900,” said McFarland of utopian communities like New Harmony, Brookstone Farm, and Zion. “At best, these 80 attempts at socialism resulted in disgruntled people that were angry with each other, and they left with the shirt on their back.”
McFarland says that whenever socialism is attempted – when society is turned upside down and wealth is redistributed – it creates inequality. His hope is that Americans “wake up before our moral Judeo-Christian representative republic is irrevocably harmed.”
“If you toss a coin 80 times and 80 times its heads, why do you think on the 81st time it’s not going to be?” said McFarland. “We’ve tried socialism and abandoned it 80 previous times – for the for the love of humanity, let’s not go down that road now.”
